Israel's Foreign Ministry ordered to 'reassess' EU involvement with Palestinians after decision to label West Bank goods; 'decision is almost completely devoid of any real significance,' official says.23:15 29.11.15 | 10 comments
Israel is not a colonial state. True, early Zionists, those of the First aliya (wave of Jewish immigration to Palestine),, were colonialist. However, ever since the second aliya the Zionist movement was no longer colonialist. In fact, the Zionists of the second aliya loathed colonialism. Ber Borochov, the father of left-wing Zionism condemned colonialism as early as 1905. Furthermore, the manifesto of the Poalei Zion party (the largest Zionist political party during the second aliya), also condemned colonialism. Moreover, several times between the 1910's and the 1930's, the Zionists offered an alliance to the Arabs. In fact, Ben Gurion went as far as proposing The creation of a "Semitic confédération", uniting the Jews and the Arabs of the Middle East. All this just proves that the charge of colonialism against Zionism, is merely post-Marxist, anti-Western gibberish.
