WHERE ARE ISRAELS LEGAL BORDER? In 1947 the UN proposed a partition plan that gave the jewish state 55% of Palestine minus Jaffa which was allocated to the rejected arab state. After the war of independence in 1949 when the ceasefire lines were drawn up Israel had 78% of Palestine + Jaffa and for the first time in its history Jerusalem was divided with Israel capturing the west and Transjordan the east. (green line)Israel did not declare these its official borders nor did the UN they were recognised as ceasefire lines. In 1967 Israel went to war again this time capturing land from Egypt, Syrian and Jordan which was the remaining 22% of British mandate Palestine and once again these were ceasefire lines and neither Israel or the UN declared them to be final border. Israel has never said what its border is and the closest its ever come to an official border was the 1947 partition plan. WHERE ARE THE BORDERS?
