in 1970 ies in Izmir when Turkish Jews applied for passport they had to go through a different process compared to Muslim Christian or other Turks. There was a special Jewish table (YAHUDI MASASI) at the Tepecik police station. Generally all Jews were denied the passport request at first. Then a civilian dressed police officer would visit you at your home and after receiving a sufficient bribe (BAHSIS) the passport would be granted. When I left Turkey in 1980 this practice was still enforced. Iyi geceler mehmet.
