You do have corrupt leaders as many other countries also have them unfortunately. You had recent elections and 47% voted for AKP whose mayor of Ankara left the city without water (Tufan Turenc put it very nicely in Hurriyet today). I also agree with you that the Turkish military is the only institution to trust. The Turkish military has very good relations with Israel and there is a strong trust between them. It is to the benefit of both Turkey and Israel to remain as friends. Finally: Turkey made some political mistakes with the USA due to the Iraq war which created the difficulties with the PKK today. Blaming Israel or the USA will not resolve anything. As Inonu used to say dealing with USA is like going to bed with a big bear. You need leaders who are capable to go to bed with a big bears of the world.
