According to Strenger: " And they will have to explain why Israel is measured by a different standard than any other country in the world when it comes to (inexcusable) human rights abuses." It's simple, and I'm surprised the good professor did not see the obvious. Israel is, in fact, measured by THE SAME yardsticks as ANY OTHER WESTERN democracy. That is what israel aspired to be and that is what got it the support of Europe and the US in the first place. No other European or western country would be off the hook for similar human right violations as israeli soldiers, courts, citizens and organizations are committing on a daily basis. These were labeled "inexcusable" by Strenger. They are more than that. Had it been Germany, or Holland or England committing the same egregious atrocities as israel does (depriving sick patients of care, letting people die at checkpoints, harassing farmers, standing by to allow pogroms, arbitrary arrests, etc) the criticism would be just as scathing.
