Against all logic, we have refused to acknowledge that the Gaza incursion in December was a fiasco for our country, not only for Gaza. This morning the talking media broadcast only politicos (from all coalition factions) who said that Turkey would have to rethink its relationships and that the crisis in the stalled peace talks was because of a now tripartite obstacle that included not only Haniyeh/Mashal and Abbas, but also Israeli Palestinians in the shape of Sheikh Ra'ad Salah. No questioning of our own behavior, not in relation to the Turks, not in relation to the Palestinians, not in relation to the US and Europe. For a government to live in such denial is an alarming spectacle for Israelis. It is we who will have to rethink our relationships, it is we who are stalling peace talks because our government cannot admit the truth to us. The higher pressure, the worse the self-righteous polemic becomes. How long will it still take? Where will it end, Mr. Netanyahu? Where?
