The PPK also attacks in Iran. That is why we will not attack the PPK. We have long (wisely) turned a blind eye towards Turkish incursions and attacks against the PPK in Iraq. Bush was not lying when he stated that there are Turks in Iraq today. Turkey has also tried very hard to improve investment and economic ties with Kurdistan. The drastic increase in attacks against Turkey the last few months have changed the situation. Turkish businesses are pulling out of Kurdistan and the Turkish public is fed up. Turkey is probably hoping that the US will suppress the PPK, but what do we have to do it with. We have other operations underway in the region which are considered more pressing and not (wrongly) requiring ground troops.
