While I agree fully with your comments about Hebron past and present I would note the following.The wave of pogroms incited by the Mufti of Jerusalem ostensibly over Jewish demands to put benches in the narrow stinking alley that had been left to the Jews at the wailing wall so old people could sit down, hit not only the Jews of Hebron but also of Safed.In both locations the Jews were of the old yishuv, non zionist and pietist.The fact that even they were attacked as part of a campaign against "the zionists" tells me alot as well.Regards Mark.
