I agree that this was quite a bad mishap, particularly after the events in Gaza. One trend I did not mention was the motivation factor. Israel has gotten a bit fat dumb and happy with the world's only superpower in their back pocket. Increasingly, young kids in Israel don't want to go to the military, they would rather work and make money. These IDF troops simply aren't as motivated as these Hezbellah folks and certainly not as motivated as Palestinians who are fighting for freedom, rather than real estate. Judging by the unneccessary harrasment I and many other American Citizens receive at the Airport in Israel, I also suspect their society has become increasingly corrupted from their occupation of Palestinian territories... Let's hope change is around the corner.
