    get your terms right, mark. "jews" & "jewish" are primarily labels of ETHNICITY, albeit one where where ethnicity & religion are unseparably intertwined. i agree it's unique, it's like in this case religion made the ethnicity, if you like, & of course there is the unique attachment to the land. but jews are basically an ethnic group (& one that has been very coherently so for exceptionally long time)just like many other ethnic groups in the world, from gypsies to eskimos. there is such a thing as a definition of an ethnic group in anthropology. this is why the state as a national home /a jewish state makes sense. it's also the reason why the racist label of the state is so wrong, when people can't see that it in principle is no different from any european national state f.ex., like germany, holland or sweden. rgs,-
