(1) Are we to conclude that Toaff suggests "confessions" extracted under torture have moral or legal validity, or that such "confessions" have any relationship to truth? (2) Toaff has glibly attempted to skirt his critics by stating he would clarify in a journal that "the Jews did not ROUTINELY murder Xtian children for their blood". This implies that Jews did so "only occasionally". He has not changed his stance at all. (3) Toaff has less than one month at Bar-Ilan before his previously scheduled retirement. Bar-Ilan President Prof. Kaveh has attempted an "easy way out" of this scandal by merely issuing a press release condemning Toaff's book. Toaff should not have the luxury of a regular retirement; he should be retired early with the accademic equivalent of the Military's "dishonourable discharge". (4) There should be an inquiry into who funded the writing and publishing of Toaff's book. This could prove most interesting. (5) The ADL should refuse Toaff's "blood money".
