Abraham was chosen by G-d because he had faith and believed and it was accounted to him righteousness because he believed. His grandson Jacob struggled with G-d and man and he was named Israel and was blessed by G-d. The Eternal one covenanted with Israel that day in giving them the Torah how to honor G-d and their fellow man. When G-d makes promises they are eternal and everlasting. Those promises he keeps for his holy names sake for his word for his truth not by any merit Israel has done for she has broken covenant w/ G-d over and over again and has suffered. Let no nation take pride and boast but in the authority of the Lord Almighty and his faithfullness. A lot of people here lack faith they have become faithless, vain, boastful and blinded.G-d will be faithful to Israel as he promised that day.
