i arrived at Kibbutz Maabarot 5 days into the war and started working in the refet (dairy cows) milking twice a day-and worked 7 days a week 15 hours a day--would do it all over again even 40 years later... I had been at Kibbutz Amir in 1972 so I knew the drill and it was the best time of my life. I stayed 18 months, joined the Ulpan and truly felt that I was contributing daily on a number of fronts.
