There are many kibbutzim which haven't privtatized away their heritage, and a large portion of these are thriving. Also, the Kibbutz as an idea and institution is simply the 20th century Jewish embodiment of a concept that goes back thousands of years.......To Jewish desert groups (Essenes), early and mideval Christian communities, Hindu and Busshist religious communities, and 18th century communes based on the ideas of Emerson and Thoreau (transcendentalism). The Kibbutz, though, has arguably been the most successful and influential. Blessings for their efforts!
