Ever since the pressure on Abbas for direct negotiations has ramped up, he's been asking for an Israeli acknowledgement of their intended objective - a completely understandable request - which Netanyahu has refused to do...while he in turn has implied to everyone that Abbas is holding up progress with unreasonable preconditions. Refusing to enter negotiations without specifically stated objectives and goals is NOT unreasonable - nor is there any precondition in the expectation that your own are acknowledged as the subject and purpose of those negotiations. Abbas was wise to invoke the expectations of the Quartet - which roughly mirror those of the Palestinians - because NOW, Netanyahu's refusal to accept them as the subject and goal of the negotiations reveals that he never had any intention reaching an agreement that would result in a Palestinian state. It's easy to accuse the Palestinians, who your hasbara has besmirched for decades, of unreasonable demands and obstinate delays...but you show your hand when you refuse the same expectations from the international community. Touche!, Mr. Abbas!
