Of course a UN force instead of the brutal Israeli ocuupation forces would be the logical solution. But here we come at the core of the problem during last decades: Israel has never internalised the "land for peace" formula. Settlement expansion, visum restrictions for the West Bank, starving Gaza to death, limits to building permits, etc. all served the goal of a Greater Israel with Palestinians removed. It is the expansionist Israeli regime that has blocked any chance for peace since decades. That was also the reason why they never wanted a UN force that would block this expansion.
