Sounds like internal politics at play here and little else. As for settlement expansion itself irrelevant in the big picture. Refusal to extend the freeze is another matter. The Palestinians will relentlessly bring this example of Israeli intransigence to the attention of the international community. And in the process stellarly promote their need for the unilateral declaration of a state. Oddly enough this may have been the Palestinian game plan from the outset as Netanyahu somewhat obviously now is being played like a fiddle.
