The private language of South Africa was Afrikaans, spoken by very few people outside of South Africa. Israel also comes to mind when discussing modern apartheid. There are just a few million Hebrew speakers in the world and no so many outside of Israel. Dead languages are an element of isolation and "apartness". It would come as no surprise if there was a link between dead languages and apartheid.
