It should have been clear long ago that force wasn't working to give Israel the security it was looking for, and in fact was counterproductive. There have been many opportunities for Israel to come to terms with its enemies, but were not taken by its politicians who played the "force" card to get and keep in power. Those who believe that Israel has played the "peace" card honestly and intelligently, and bears no share of the blame for current conditions, are "stiff-necked" indeed.
