Gideon Levy is absolutely correct in his analysis. Lieberman represents the majority of public opinion in Israel, private views or otherwise. It'a a myth a so called "left" or "peace camp" had ever existed in Israel. Labor, Likud or today's Kadima, all act the same when it comes towards the Palestinians. What I would add to Levy's analysis is argue that many of the SANE and MODERATE ISRAELI'S have already left Israel for greener pastuers elsewhere. A tightly kept secret is the number of Jews who leave Israel-over a million- some estimate in the last 20 years. The ones remaining are your extreme firebrands. The same can be said for Palestinians, those that could leave have done so. What's left? You have those groups of people in power today who are willing to play "to the last man standing" game. That's where we are now, with the Zionist government(all the same) and Hamas. Jews are deluding themselves if they think they can outlast the Arabs or win at this game. The Arabs invented perseverence, human endurance, and self-sacrifice against all the elements. Ever tried crossing the Sahara desert or the Sinai? Such mythic acts of endurance are part of the Arabic ethos; "summid" or steadfastness is a way of life. Hence, Israel's failure in getting Palestinians to throw the white flag despite all the unmerciful cruel genocidal brutality unleashed on them.

IfNotNow and its co-founder Simone Zimmerman challenge U.S. Jews to end the occupation. But they won't answer this basic question: Do you support a Jewish and democratic state in Israel, alongside a Palestinian state? And if not, why not?16:02 05.05.16 | 1 comments
