Like their counterparts in Israel, "liberals" in the states have lost touch with reality. Their underlying belief that everyone is good, that everyone should just talk it out and sit around the campfire, sing kumbiya doing group therapy, all problems would be solved. Rabbi Roffe's naivete is not much different. By giving away the store upfront, with overt statements agreeing to divide Jerusaleum instead of making any land deal conditional on performance, Roffe ignores how Israel's enemies still continue to stratagize ways to destroy the Jewish state as their underlying goal. In the States, this apologist position was last evident in New York City. There, Jewish "liberals" use to excuse criminal behavior and focus more on the rights of the criminals than the impact the crimes had on the victims. There is indeed something "off" in the Jewish mindset--for those who always identify with the underdog, even if that position is dead wrong and hurts their fellow kinsman.
