Levy needs to learn about Martin Luther King, who NEVER countenanced violence, no matter how violent the white American police were -- and they were at least as violent as the Israeli soldiers. The whole point of non-violent struggle is that you are struggling against a violent oppressor (though in this case, the struggle is against a basically non-violent victim who has to choose between tough measures and suffering the Palestinian violent struggle to steal the Jewish homeland). And even if one agrees with Palestinian claims, you either are committed to non-violent struggle or your not. There's no "we'll be non-violent if they'll be non-violent". This formulation is slightly better than Fatah/Hamas and their a priori commitment to terrorism, but in the end, if you justify the targeting of civilians, you are not at all a non-violent movement. Levy just doesn't get it.
