Levi, I do not feel I generalized, in fact, I feel just the opposite, that the law in place today generalizes TOWARDS bad fathers, assuming the father's incompetence rather than looking at the individuality of each situation. As for my experience, I guess as a parent who raised two children single handedly--and managed to maintain a healthy relationship with their father, their father's extended family, have a full-time career (com, and recently I've become a new step parent in a barbaric system where I have witnessed my stepchildren denied rights to be involved with their father. Other than that I don't really have any experience in the matter. I am a feminist who feels that women's groups position against this law is incredibly ironic and ignorant. In my personal situation I was a single parent because my ex was not interested in joint-custody, I would have embraced it for the children's sake, and for both of our abilities to pursue our professional as well as family goals.
