The explosive dilemma of 'collaboration' with the Nazis in order to save German Jews split the Zionist movement in the 1930s.00:01 01.05.16 | 0 comments
Umm. Let them eat cake! was an attitude of the monarchs of France which led to their being overthrown and put to death. That is not the goal we seek if we want Israel to remain a nation. People who are starving are even more desperate then people who are denied basic civil liberties. In other words, people do even crazier and more desperate things when everyone is starving as opposed to what they do when they are inconvenienced or denied property rights or their neighbors are killed. Hunger and thirst lead to a situation where there is nothing left to lose. Not the sitation desired. Thank you. (Although, personally, I think that if everyone denied both sides any financial support at all including humanitarian that the "situation" would be resolved. I fear we merely perpetuate the conflict by supporting both sides. Historically, conflicts are resolved faster where there are no deep pockets to maintain either the revolution (resistance) or the governmental oppresion.
