The puzzling thing is that Iran does not quit the NPT. Maybe it wants to stay in the IAEA so as to be in the loop of what is going on there, but that does not seem very convincing since it has alternative means of doing that. Another puzzle is that the US does not divulge better evidence of Iran’s program, which it certainly must have. Everybody seems eager to make an ant hill out of Iran’s nuclear ambitions and stir up a storm in a teacup, but no one seems keen on a real showdown.
