Israel refused to cooperate with an earlier HRC committee, the famed Goldstone committee on the Gaza war. In the Goldstone case, the HRC has made a heroic effort to please Israel, appointing as head a Zionist Jew. What more can one expect? But Israel refused them even entry to Gaza, so they entered the place through Egypt, interviewed the locals, and even went to Jordan to interview more people. The result was a harsher report than it ought to have been, since only one side was heard. Israel was accused of a number of war crimes, some of which Goldstone withdrew after Israel finally gave him some info./ The good news for Israel: The new commission will not be able to get into the West Bank. The bad news: They will interview many Palestinians who will visit Jordan for the occasion. Again, a one sided report will result, harsher than it should have been. "Smart people learn from others' mistakes; stupid people must learn from their own mistakes".
