Rabbis don't decide these things - the Law does. If you have a problem with Jewish law, then you are free to join the Reform movement which has dismissed, wholesale, all of Halakha, in favor of making up "laws" on the fly. Just don't pretend that Reform is Judaism, or that it's leaders are Jewish Rabbis.
