The mines keep the people we want out out. When the military law a minefield today its clearly marked and cordoned off. The minefields laid in wartime are not so well marked because they are laid quickly and the problem with them is we don't know where they are so we can't remove them. Hizbollah have just threatened to take over the Galilee in the event of another Lebanon war, shouldn't we make it harder for them not easier? We don't say lets get rid of all guns because now and again you get a gun owner who stupidly leaves his gun lying around and his child picks it up and shoots somebody by accident. We need to start placing more mined on the Sinai border to keep out the flood of illegals. There is very little in the way of border protection in Sinai and a minefield would make a cheap and effective short term solution.
