It is far better to lose soldiers' lives in a rescue mission and civilian lives in rocket attacks following the mission than to lose the same amount in terror attacks perpetrated by released prisoners. If various soldiers including Gilad Schalit die in the rescue attempt, at least this will not have been in vain, and our enemies will understand we are strong not weak and this will more likely lead them to stop hostilities, just as our crushing of them in the last few years in Lebanon and Gaza kept them relatively restrained. In any case it is a mistake to do anything that distracts us from Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons, that is the real battle ahead.
