The latest reports on live TV say that the fires began in several locations, apparently several kilometers apart. This suggests a premeditated arson attack. The long, hot, dry summer that has extended into what is supposed to be winter has allowed this fire to have devastating consequences of massive proportions. As of a few minutes ago, 40 people are counted as dead, 22 have already been identified, a small number are desperately injured and in treatment in hospital. Some firefighters are missing and incommunicado, whereabouts unknown. Apparently, the bus of prison guards were actually volunteers who were on their way to help evacuate citizens but got caught in the very fast moving fire. News is still pouring in.
