Abbas's last ditch efforts to win international support and increase pressure on the Israeli government will not go far enough. Sanctions will not be forthcoming, and without them Israel will not change course. Popular, non-violent resistance is impossible to resist, and as a tool could be used to fight for civil rights and an end to the apartheid in the West Bank. Israel has no answer to it, and its apologists can imagine no counter argument that doesn't involve apartheid or ethnically cleansing Palestinians to Jordan or Egypt.
