Israel doesn't operate big blue water ships like the US it likes to pack a big punch into smaller and faster ones like corvettes. The US big guns are not what Israel needs. Israel did originally want the new American Littoral Combat Ship but at around $650 million apiece the price was to high but if they had bought that it would have been the biggest ship in the navy. Right now the biggest is the 1200 ton SAAR 5 which is 20 years old. Sadly the value of the navy is not appreciated and so its treated as the poor relative of the IDF and never gets its fair share of the military budget, without about two thirds of the cost funded by Germany there would be no glamerous submarines, the navy doesn't even have basics like a single landing craft anymore ( the only country in the region that doesn't have something as basic as that ). You get the pilots doing heroic missions like blowing up atomic reactors and dogfighting in wartime. The ground troops with their Merkava tanks and its big guns and you got the navy thats never seen unless they are in port and just get the left overs of the budget.
