Clearly Laor doesn`t argue that the Shin Bet (Israel`s FBI)shouldn`t act against those who desire to subvert the democratic institutions of the country. It`s just that he is uncomfortable with the de4finition of the State as both jewish and Democratic. He is a cheerleader for the "All of its Citizens" definition of the state, ignoring the 2,000 years of unique jewish history and wnadering and the unquestionable need and right to a safe and secure home of its own. For the next 500 years let`s view this as affirmative action fro jews which justifies some imfringement on "pure" democratic principles which would make Laor more comfortable. It was clear that when Bagatz (i., Barak) used this definiton it and the entire left were paying lipservice to the Jewish part and only really meant the democratic part. Well sorry a majority of us still view the tension between the two as legitimate and Jewish survival and rights as a priority.
