This is the most important point in any discussion of this conflict. The Arab countries supported the Axis powers in both WWI and WWII. They lost, and the area called "Palestine" was granted by the British, who controlled that part of the Ottoman empire after WWI. Since there were no political Palestinians in 1948, when Israel declared a state there, many of the indigenous Jordanians (the area was part of Jordan) left so they wouldn't be swept into the see with the Jews. And how well that, too turned out. If history shows anything, it is that Israel, having a presence in this land for at least 3500 years, has every right to be there. When people deny that right, the conversation must end.
