Yael Patir, Israel director of the left-leaning U.S. Jewish body, sat down with Haaretz to talk about Trump, the gap between U.S. and Israeli Jews, and the growing anger at the Israeli peace camp. Though she concedes boycott efforts by some on the left have a negative effect, she rejects calls to keep peace efforts local.01:12 01.05.16 | 4 comments
Obama did not build a coalition against Iran other than the already existing Western alliance. Brazil, Turkey, India, Russia, China, Malaysia, and South Africa, to name a few, have not joined an Obama coalition against Iran beyond lipservice. Secondly, Obama led the coalition against Libya from behind. It was not him who formed it. It was Europe which wanted the Libyan intervention and the US had to do the fighting for them because that is practically the only leverage the US still has with Europe. Not to mention that the Libyan intervention promises to create results which the West is going to regret. So I wouldn’t rest much of my election campaign on the success of the Libyan mission. Finally, I would not talk about Obama bringing the troops home because the fiction that Obama somehow pulled victory out of Bush’s disastrous wars is wearing thin already. In short the only reason I would vote for a failing president like Obama is (shudder) the Republicans.
