Danite, Remember bone breaking? Here is compassion in action. It is not good to ignore facts in favor of theories. You can always say that somebody who wants to accomplish something for his people has compassion for them. Some do, and some have reasons unrelated to compassion. Think of recent history. I don't want to mention names. Danite, you continually theorize about Hamas' supposed "calculations". I don't see any genius in Hamas, nor any great calculations. They have their goals and they are willing to sacrifice. The level of willingness develops with time. Suicide bombing was not practiced by Sunnis, not even by the Islamic Brotherhood of Egypt. The fact that they turned to suicide bombings shortly after Goldstein, not in the years before, suggests to me that the offense they felt was so great that they were willing to increase their sacrifice level to match it. This is the process whereby conflicts become more and more bitter. One keeps outdoing one's opponent. Danite, I am going to sleep. If you respond I will read it tomorrow. Have a happy New Year. BG
