Hello Danite, I forgot to mention that the "father" (or Grandfather) of today's settler ideology is the revered Rabbi Kook (d. 1935). His son Zvi Yehuda the Kook applied it to the post 1967 situation. They know the messiah is coming. Rabbi Kook Sr. believed that the noreligious Zionists were doing God's work even while not being aware of it. It will be very hard for the settlers to accept the failure of their enterprise. I am sure it would be a major trauma even without a pre-failure "debate" with the Left. But it would be fun to debate and increase the trauma. P.S. A good book on today's messianic origins is: Avi Ravitzky, "Messianism, Zionism, and Jewish religious radicalism". Ravitzky is a prominent Israeli scholar from Hebrew University. Have a good night, danite. It's a pleasure.
