In your bigoted condescending minds the Arabs are unable to lead their own resistance to the Jewish State and you ISM people from all over the world need to LEAD these people..." ISM doesn't lead anyone to do anything. Its volunteers provide protection for Palestinians who want to use nonviolence as a means to protest against the wanton murder and pillaging that has been going on in Palestine for decades. Without international presence there can be no such thing as non-violent protest by Palestinians unless they resign themselves to death at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces. You know nothing about ISM. If you did you would realize that no weapons are allowed, no resistance to violence committed against peace activists is allowed, and that ISMers never encourage Palestinians to risk their lives. In fact before any action, ISMers make sure the Palestinians -- usually women and children -- realize that there will most likely be brutal retaliation by Israeli troops after the internationals leave. Such is the courage and determination of the Palestinian people that they are willing to take this risk. They know they are defenseless and will continue to be brutalized, but they are heartened to know that the world outside knows of their suffering and that international and Israeli peace activists who witness and participate in their non violent actions will spread the truth about the atrocities committed by Israel against Palestinians. ISM is a wonderful movement and I have never been more proud of anything I've done in my rather long life than to be associated with Huwaida Arraf, Adam Shapiro, Neta Golan, Ghassan Andoni and the many other remarkable people I have come to know through my connection with ISM. I feel sure that at some time in the future Huwaida and Adam will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their commitment to human rights and their unselfish work in the cause of peace for Palestinans and Israelis.
