Oh dear. Quoting Kissinger as the "expert" on civilian control of generals! Recall that Kissinger was the "Civilian in Chief" while Generals were mucking about in Vietnam, Nixon was going bonkers in the whitehouse and he (Kissinger) was blathering on at Paris Peace talks (and boinking Barbara Walters? or was it Diane Sawyer?) Once you go to war -- a civilian decision in the U.S. - its best to leave the war planning and execution to the generals. Colin Powell knew that. So did Schwarzkopf. But the decision to get in -- and WHEN (under what conditions) to get out IS political. But generals must insist on having sound political entry/exit bookends so they can plan accordingly. But -- both Israeli politicians AND miliary leadership seem in complete disarray. Both strategically and tactically. That's why rockets continue to rain on you.
