Ariel Sharon is the greatest leader Israel has had since King David. He may be even greater because he has had to work within the context of a democratic political framework, instead of a biblical feudal one. Like any truly effective King, David was controversial. David also suppressed the Phalistins (new historical category Philistine+Palestinian) and as with King Sharon, he was rewarded by G-d/fate with the power to unite all of Israel (or at least most of it!) Sharon's greatness is that he always responded in kind and measure to the treachery of the Arabs who always wanted to kill off the Jewish presence in the Middle East through expulsion from virtually all of the Arab countries as well as a rollicking Race War of Extermination against the Jewish presence known today as Zionism. But since Zionism IS Judaism, and Judaism is not a race, and the Arabs could not even get that part right, they failed in their attempt to murder, slaughter, pillage, rape, burn and do everything else their wild blood lust inspires the Arabs to do. Ariel Sharon was a big part of thwarting this national Arab pastime. Americans have baseball, the Brits love their football, and the Arabs their blood lust, murder and mayhem. So Ariel, you certainly do get my vote, that is if we could now, democratically, vote for the job of 'KING OF ISRAEL'...Honest Abe

Why Barak regrets speaking out on Iran

There was no security breach in what the former defense minister said about how an attack was thwarted; what has suffered is mainly Israel’s image.

Not a migrant, not an immigrant – there has to be a third option, but he doesn't know how to say it in English, Arabic or Hebrew.

How the bagel went from shtetls to haute cuisine

A visit to the world's bagel capital is a chance to marvel at how this unassuming Jewish-Ashkenazi food has come from its 17th-century beginnings.
