Khalid - It is rather pathetic taking people who support the Israeli approach to ressolution 242, and try to present them otherwise. It shows how much you guys do not have a case. I sometime ask myself how better could it be for the Palestinians, had their spend they energy on improving their condition, rather on rewriting history. The British Ambassador who drafted resolution 242, Lord Caradon, declared after the vote: 'It is only the resolution that will bind us, and we regard its wording as clear.' This literal interpretation was repeatedly declared to be the correct one by those involved in drafting the resolution. On December 9th, 1969, for example, the British Foreign Secretary Mr. Michael Stewart said '? the omission of the word 'all'? before the word 'territories' is deliberate.'? When asked to explain the British position later, Lord Caradon said: 'It would have been wrong to demand that Israel return to its positions of June 4, 1967, because those positions were undesirable and artificial.'
