Why should Hamas disarm as long as the occupations remain intact? - So that Israel knows that the PA's intentions for peace are serious. Because it is the 1st condition of the Road Map There is no precedent under the sun where the occupying power insists that the occupied disarm and be completely naked before negotiations... - There is no precendent where the "occupying" powers are offering negotiations and the possibility of independence to the "occupied powers" and the latter arestubbornly refusing - making untenable demands of their own (shooting themselves in the foot, so to speak). Is resistance a negotiation tactic? you beti it is. - Violence has never been a negotiating tactic. It is anti-democratic and that works well in dictatorships. Would the US have evacuated from Vietnam had it not been for the resistance? The resistance derived from communist N. vietnam - not from anyone who claimed to want democracy. They wanted freedom to become a communist dictatorship. Is that what you are seeking? Japan and Germany did not resist America after WW2 and are today both thriving democracies. Would France have left Algerial had it not been for the FLN? - Algeria never posed a threat to the existence of France. Will Israel ever leave East Jerusalem and the West Bank to their rightful owners without resistance? - "their rightful owners" (especially Jerusalem) is questionable and not absolute, as you seem to imply. Israel offered the WB and East Jerusalem at Camp David - no matter what you say. NEGOTIATION and NOT violent and indiscriminate resistance is what is called for. If need be, the Israeli army and Hamas and Fatah would have all to disarm..this what I call reciprocity. - BS - do your really believe this garbage. After Israel's history of perpetual attacks by its neighbours there is no talk of reciprocity. The Palestinians are the ones who emulate suicide - not the Israelis.
