    Mr. Sharon reneged on his campaign promises to the electorate, blew off referendum results from his own party members -- the very same people who nominated him to head their list and be prime minister -- and willfully resisted holding a national referendum on an extraordinarily divisive issue to let the citizens of Israel voice their opinion. Why would anyone expect him to treat the Jewish Diaspora any better?
