All this Threat and counter threat could have been prevented long time ago. The Arab peace initiative in 2002 offered Israel peace and complete and normal relatons with all Arab states against returning the territories occupied since 1967, and allowing the establishment of a Palestinian state. But such offer was completely rebuffed by Israel, preferring to keep the territories, and considering that as long as it has a military superiority it doesn't need peace. Think of it, If Israel accepted to give back the Golan Heights to Syria, Israel would have reached a peace agreement with Syria, and Hizbullah would have ceased to exist - No more Missile threats from the North. If Israel hasn't been hindering the establishment of a Palestinian state, preferring to continue expanding settlements in the west bank against making peace with the Palestinians, Hamas would have disappeared long time ago. No missiles from Gaza. And if Israel has accepted the Arabe initiative in 2002, then Israel would have been in peace with All Arab state, and All arab states would be standing now shoulder to shoulder with Israel against the Iranian Nuclear threat, with all Arab state enthousiastically supporting the execution and implementation of embargos, sanctions against the Iranian regime. Now, the situation is that although some Arab countries are concerned with the rise of Iran, are still not confortable in supporting the US or Israel because of the long-standing Israeli-Arab conflict. Worse, If Iran is not stopped, and does aquire a nuclear weapon, it won't be long before Saudi Arabia, Syria and other Arab state will get their hands on a nuclear weapon as well...and Israel's nuclear/military superiority will evaporate. If only Israelis are not that short sighted and greedy.

Ashkenazi and Barak.

Why Barak regrets speaking out on Iran

There was no security breach in what the former defense minister said about how an attack was thwarted; what has suffered is mainly Israel’s image.
