Whever there is power, there is corruption. The difference: In Israel, neither the press, nor the judicial system bow before power, and they investigate allegations until the end. In Germany Schroeder could sign a contract with Gasprom a week before leaving office, only to become its chairman of the board a week after leaving the office. This is corruption which make the allegations against Olmert seem petty. In the US Barack Obama was reported to have purchased property belowmarket price in a deal with the wife of a Soiprano-style real estate dealer and convicted fellon. In the US this ended in two newspaper reports, in Olmert's case with a formal investigation (closedmeanwhile). By the way, here we have another funny rule: innocence until proven otherwise!
