"..Jerusalem was designated as a corpus separatum, which meant that it was to belong to NEITHER the "Jewish state" nor the "Arab state"" corpus separatum was not implemented. It was not declared over on behalf of Israel. It remained a part of what was left of the non-state entity of Palestine, after Israel's Independence. "..they were both attempting a CONQUEST of that city, and conquest was deemed to be illegal well before 1948-49" 3 points 1) The Arab league DEMANDED Jordan only be a trustee. 2) They had a right, as regional powers to protect non-state territories from Israeli/Jewish forces outside of Israel's newly declared boundaries. 3) The UNSC did not condemn Jordan taking the West Bank. "Jerusalem was not more Israel`s to claim than it was Jordan`s to claim" Which is why the Arab League demanded only trusteeship! (which is why there is no UNSC res against their annexation. It was asked for by the Palestinians. I.e., bilateral) http://wp.me/pDB7k-il
