@JoeUSA you are correct, but currently there is an eye for a splinter. Palestinians get hunted and punished with death for throwing stones. Equality is more important, if you don't want everyone being blind then be more just in punishment and punish same acts equally. That is the spirit of the statement "eye for an eye", just punishment, not literal, yet our rabbis seem not to understand it.
