Who are you to dictate if they should be studying Torah or earning money? You are s shining example of the problem with the haredi & seculars. The secular's hate it if haredi try and dictate how they should live their lives but they are more than happy to play high minded and tell haredi how they must live their life. I wasn't aware that Israel belonged to seculars alone & the haredi were like guests to either be dictated to by the seculars or leave? Their way of life is not brainwashing its living a Torah observant lifestyle ( something that theoretically ALL Jews should live ). Judaism is about Torah not Tel Aviv nightlife. The reason the religion still exists today is because of the Torah observant Jews and at the rate things are going right now with secularization and marrying out give it another century or so and the religious will be all thats left of Judaism. When people like you stopped dictating to the haredi and started to show a little respect to them and their culture then the wider haredi community might be more willing to help try and crack down on the radicals but as long as you treat them like lepers its going to be a secular v haredi culture in this country and its going to mean constant clashes and then what, are we going to deport the haredi, forbid them from practicing of orthodox Judaism to stop them brainwashing as you put it? The haredi are Israeli citizens and their culture must be respected by the secular.

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
