While Jimmy Carter's position is no doubt motivated by good intentions, his perspective is a bit myopic and does not take into consideration the obvious flaws of this Agreement. While a united, peaceful Palestinian front obviously holds the greatest promise for the establishment of a Palestinian State as well as for that State's future, mutually beneficial collaboration with Israel there still remain too many open questions (in particular in regard to Hamas' role in that State). The fact that Hamas is still not willing to recognize the State of Israel in this Agreement and openly and defiantly condemned the killing of Bin Laden - even against the wishes and advice of their Fatah brethren - and in contrast to the reaction of most Arab States in the region gives pause for thought.
