In order for them to distract attention, they are causing strife by attacking Christians as an example. The people are demanding more openness but the secret service is shredding documents day and night. You might see the Christian-Muslim strife increase as people demand more transparency and the state pushes back. Average Egyptian on the street wants better living standards, higher wages and better quality of life not to mention true democracy. This religious dimension is offered by the state as a distraction. By the way, the average protesters are also being targeted by mobs, regardless of their religion.
